Vivo around two weeks after officially unveiling its new flagship device in India has finally introduced Vivo V9 in the Pakistani market.

The Chinese smartphone giants have successfully changed the perception of Chinese phones in the country by bringing quality products with a price tag that is easily affordable for the users, giving many other companies a run for their money.

At the last night’s launch event, we could see that the company left an open room for expense as unlike Samsung who ordinarily launched its much-awaited flagship devices Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus, Vivo tried to bring the flavor of mobile phone launches that are mostly seen internationally.

The experience zone was quite large housing 42-45 Vivo V9 smartphones, enough that nobody had to wait in line to check out the company’s new device.

The event started off with an entertaining performance which was followed by a company overview by Zohair Chohan, Vivo’s brand manager who quite impressively represented his company.

Despite being young, Zohair took charge of the room and explained the differentiating attributes of his company.

This year, the Vivo introduced Amir Khan as their brand ambassador and the new TVCs revealed by the company at the launch event simply showed how their device works instead of glamorous pictures of their own Vivo V9 smartphone. You can check out Vivo’s new TVCs below:

Afterward, Eric Kong, CEO of Vivo Pakistan took the stage and enthusiastically introduced the new Vivo V9 smartphone in the country which comes with the power of AI.

Unlike many mobile phone launches in Pakistan, the Chinese company presented a detailed and easy to follow product description which was given by Alex Zhan, Product Manager of Vivo Pakistan.

The company used videos to explain the different features of their device for instance how AI will help take clearer pictures, how users can text while playing a game, how Vivo V9 can use machine learning to identify the age, sex, skin tone and texture of the user, etc.

In Pakistan, Oppo is the only other brand that takes time to present a well-prepared product demonstration that doesn’t just highlight the hardware but instead tells us how this device is different and what makes it unique.

Suggestions for Improvement

Although we loved the effort made by Vivo Pakistan, there were a few stumblings that we think can be improved by JBnJaws, the event organizers who planned this event.

JBnJaws is a prominent name that organizes many major events in Pakistan including the launch of different handsets in the country but yesterday we failed to see them charged with the same energy as before.

They failed to make the celebrities interact. There were no activities planned for the celebrities who simply sat at the front like a showpiece and were insistent on leaving the event before it was over. The initial dance performance was out of sync and still needed practice.

The event guests were mainly mobile phone dealers from different cities of Pakistan and thus belonging to different cultures who have their own unique music preference didn’t show much interest in the too loud musical performance by Josh.

The fashion show looked out of place at the Vivo V9 launch because firstly there was no theme that matched with the mission of Vivo and secondly it was odd that no model came carrying the new Vivo V9 devices, which was the actual product that should have been showcased.

Lastly, Vivo who awarded all its dealers from different cities recognition shields for helping Vivo grow in Pakistan somehow didn’t have enough awards as the dealers who traveled all the way to Faisalabad were called on stage only to find they were going to be presented with nothing.

The anger of Faisalabad’s dealers was evident from their faces who after leaving the stage argued with the Chinese management over the humiliation.

It is quite odd to see this mishap as the company should have kept a head count of all the dealers that were to be presented with shields, something that would’ve saved them the embarrassment at the launch event.

The company’s new smartphone, Vivo V9 comes riddled with a plethora of features. You can check out the device’s specs below:
