The much hyped Samsung Galaxy S8 was released last night in the Unpacked event which ended rather swiftly surprising many. Listed below are seven impressive highlights from the launch.

Fastest Processor Ever

Galaxy S8 and S8+ include Qualcomm’s most powerful processor to date, the Snapdragon 835. The processor is a first ever 10nm chip which takes less space and performs faster enabling you to multitask like never before.

Iris Scanner

Iris Scanner S8

The phones will use the iris scanning technology which is being dubbed as ‘the most secure form of biometric security’ by Samsung. It also comes with a facial recognition feature to support Samsung Pay transactions.

Samsung Pass & Health

Samsung Pass enables you to login to apps and websites through biometric verification. The app will be compatible with only some financial apps and websites but will be expanded later to accommodate social media websites and apps as well.

Samsung Health will let you talk to a doctor in a matter of moments. The feature is currently available in some Asian countries only and will be released in other countries soon.

Bixby

Bixby S8

Bixby is Samsung’s new AI assistant and has a dedicated button under the volume controls on the Galaxy S8 and S8+. Bixby has four major functions: Talk, Touch, Recommend and Home. Bixby can understand commands in relation to context and activity on your phone and amend incomplete commands.

AKG Earphones

Every Galaxy S8 and S8+ will include AKG earphones inside which are also separately sold for $99. This is a major upgrade for audiophiles as AKG has long specialized in providing users with the best audio experience.

Gear VR & Gear 360

Samsung’s Gear VR now comes with a motion sensor controller making it easier to control your VR experience. Also, there is an all new Gear 360 gadget with a built-in handle that lets you record 4K videos or stream live 2K videos.

Samsung DeX

Dex S8

Samsung DeX is what Apple wants to do with its iPhone soon. The DeX provides you with a fully equipped desktop experience if you connect your Galaxy S8 to it. The DeX runs on Android and you can use apps with a mouse and keyboard increasing productivity options.
