The cat is out of the bag! We finally know everything that there is to know about the Huawei Mate 10 series. As we are still trying to wrap our heads around the wonderful device that promises the fastest processing ever thanks to AI, let’s see the 8 best things that we have seen so far in Huawei Mate 10 at the launch event.
Kirin 970 Chipset
The company unveiled its AI enabled chipset at IFA 2017 which coupled with the hardware of Huawei Mate 10 promises faster processing than its competitors.
The smartphone features world’s first Neural Processing Unit (NPU) and Mali-G72 12-core (GPU). The 8-core CPU will provide the user with 20% increased power efficiency and 12-core GPU vows to up the performance and power efficiency by 20% and 50% respectively.
As we have previously reported, the AI will be present on the chipset rather on cloud and will learn over 100 million images for real-time object recognition.
During the presentation, the company’s CEO showed us that Huawei Mate 10 Pro has 20 times fastest photo recognition capability than iPhone 8 Plus and Galaxy Note 8.
The chipset will focus on behavior-driven AI technology to recognize the needs of the user by predicting his behavior.
Huawei has maintained its long-standing relationship with Leica camera and has brought dual rear came with 12-megapixel RGB + 20-megapixel monochrome sensors, Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), f/1.6, AI-powered Bokeh Effect and AI-powered Digital Zoom.
The AI capabilities also trickle down to the smartphone’s camera where it helps the user take perfect shots by recognizing the object in the real-time and automatically adjusting the camera settings. The camera on Huawei Mate 10 can recognize 13 scenes and objects.
It doesn’t just end here as the user will never have to worry about dull or no light as the camera on the new flagship device still promises to give a brilliant performance by lightening up space around the object and making it shine like a diamond (not literally of course).
Huawei mate 10 has an 8MP front camera that unfortunately lacks scene recognition but you can trust it to recognize the faces in the picture and can thus create better pictures by adjusting the blur in the bokeh effect.
Similar to its predecessor, the Huawei P10 packs a massive 4000 mAh battery that will provide a long-lasting battery life to the user.
The Chinese company during its presentation took a jab at iPhone X showing that it has only 2716 mAh battery whereas Huawei offers 48% percent larger battery capacity. It is a fact well known that the company’s flagship devices feature an exceptional SuperCharge feature which can also be seen in the recently launched Huawei Mate 10.

Despite offering a large battery capacity, Huawei’s new device is slimmer than Galaxy Note 8 which packs a 3300 mAh battery.
The Huawei Mate 10 has done exceptionally well when it comes to its looks and instead of the bulky metal finish, the users will experience a glossy back where the four sides of the device are curved to provide better grip and design.
Huawei Mate 10 has 5.9 inches screen with RGBW HDR display offering sharp pictures thanks to the 2160×1440 pixels resolution.
Unlike the Pro model, Mate 10 doesn’t offer a full view display but the 2K resolution is enough to let the user immerse in a high-quality video streaming experience.
Huawei one-uped its competition, Samsung by going after their newest accessory Dex that can transform the Galaxy devices into a personal computer. With Mate 10, the user doesn’t need a fancy equipment rather they can simply plug in their device via a cable, a feature that the company has termed as Mobile Office.
As long you have your device with you, you can turn any computer into your PC by connecting the two. It takes away the hassle of carrying anything other than a wire. Also, no calls or messages will bother a person while they are presenting or holding a meeting with the help of Mobile Office.
Open AI Ecosystem
Huawei aims to create an open AI ecosystem and thus with the help of Google it is opening its doors to the third party apps that can use NPU in Huawei Mate 10 to speed up machine learning tasks.
Developers can access the device’s NPU via Huawei’s API for Kirin 970, Google’s TensorFlow lite or Facebook’s Caffe 2 AI frameworks.
In Huawei Mate 10, the Chinese company has strived to offer the best audio experience to its users with Hi-Res audio 384k/32bit and end-to-end Hi-Fi audio quality.
One of the best parts about the device is the Huawei EasyTalk where if a user is whispering while on call, it can be heard perfectly on the other hand due to intelligent voice level enhancement.
Huawei Mate 10 is the first device that will feature the new Android Oreo right out of the box which will be supported by the company’s latest EMUI 8.0.
The company’s last user interface was called EMUI 5 but it seems like the device will honor the new OS, Android 8.0 with its new version.
