How to Block Unwanted Emails

Almost every Internet user is familiar with email. Although it is a very useful mode of communication, sometimes it irritates us because of the unwanted messages that we often receive on our email address. A number of email providers offer a useful tool called “Spam Filter,” which is enabled by default. But, sometimes, this automatic spam filtering system fails to stop the messages from some of the spammers. If you are also one of those people who receive a dozen of junk emails daily in their inbox, then here is an easy way of how to block unwanted emails.


First, Log in to your Gmail account and go to your inbox and open any email. On the upper-right corner, there is an arrow, click on it, a drop-down menu will quickly appear. After that hit the “Block” option. Now, all the messages from this sender will automatically be forwarded to your “Spam” folder and you will no longer see the annoying messages in your inbox.


To block unwanted emails in your Hotmail account, click on the gear symbol near your name. Then, choose “More mail settings.” Under the option of “Preventing junk email,” click “Safe and blocked senders”. Now, select “Blocked Senders.” Enter the email address that you want to block. Also, you can enter a domain address to block the emails from a particular domain. After you are done with adding the addresses, click “Add to list” button.

Microsoft Outlook

There is an easy way to block unwanted emails in Microsoft Outlook. To do this, sign in to your Outlook account and go to your inbox. From the messages list, choose a message from the sender whom you want to block. Now, select “Junk,” and then hit the “Block Sender” option. Congratulations, you have successfully blocked that sender.

Yahoo Mail

First, sign in to your Yahoo account and click on the “Mail” option. Now, go to your inbox and hit the gear icon, which appears in the upper-right corner. Go to the “Settings” menu and select “Blocked Addresses.” Enter the email address that you want to block and then click “OK.” There is a limit of 500 e-mail addresses, which you can block. You can also block the domains by adding the domain addresses into this folder. In this way, you can block unwanted emails in your Yahoo account.

Yandex Mail

For blocking the emails from a specific sender, Yandex Mail offers an easy way. Just click on the “All Settings” option and the select “Message Filtering.” Add the email addresses that you want to block and hit the “Add” button. To quickly block an email address, click on the sender’s email address in your inbox and then hit the “Add to blacklist” button.

Apple iCloud Mail

You can add your rules in the Apple iCloud Mail service to filter the emails automatically. To do this, go to your iCloud Mail account and click on the “Action” menu in the sidebar. Now, select “Rules.” Click “Add a Rule” option and enter the email address of an unwanted sender. Then, select an action to be performed automatically when an email arrives from this particular sender. For example, you can select “Move to Trash” option to let the iCloud automatically redirect the emails of that sender to your trash folder.
