You must have heard about driverless cars and frankly, the technology has evolved so much that now it’s just a matter of time when we will be able to book a cab and ride it without having any driver in front seat. But have you heard about anything like a driverless motorcycle?
No need to call 1122 as we are completely in senses. While we are enjoying plenty of new gadgets at CES 2019, the concept of a driverless motorcycle made us totally wow. Now, this is called technology at its best.
BMW’s motorbike department has revealed a totally self-riding prototype that doesn’t need any human rider for basic tasks. The new BMW bike named as R 1200 GS can accelerate, brakes and take sharp turns on its own. Moreover, the bike has got a fabulous balancing mechanism which ensures that bike never falls under any circumstances.
Although all of the autonomous vehicle frenzies are centered around cars, bikes are one of the most vulnerable vehicles and surely need such advancements. Not only the accidents encountered on a motorbike are deadlier, but the number of such accidents also alarming.
We will not be having driverless motorcycle from BMW anytime soon, however, the company showcased its future plans with R 1200 GS. We appreciate how the manufacturers thinking of future with plans like autonomous and electric vehicles. Harley Davidson recently unveiled electric bike is showing us where the world is moving.
We would love to have other motorcycle manufacturers like Honda, Suzuki, and Yamaha to follow the trend set by BMW. These types of bikes will not only facilitate the riders but will surely help safeguard them.
