Britain joins the Muslim Ban, after US bars electronic devices on flights

UK and US bars electronic devices on flight from Msulim countries

After the US banned the airline passengers from eight Muslim countries to bring electronic devices on board, UK also barred most electronic devices on flights from various Muslim countries.

The Donald Trump administration made the news when it banned airline passengers from eight Middle Eastern and North African countries from carrying large electronic devices like laptops etc. on board.

The UK seems to be following a similar pattern as if the ban is anything like that of US, the passengers won’t be able to carry anything bigger than a smartphone, not even a tablet.

The electronic devices ban will apply to nonstop flights to the US from 10 international airports including the ones in Amman, Jordan; Kuwait City, Kuwait; Cairo; Istanbul; Jeddah and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; Casablanca, Morocco; Doha, Qatar; and Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.

The list of countries included in America’s electronic ban includes Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, Morocco, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey. This order is expected to go into effect later this week, where the officials have given the airlines till 3 am on Saturday to comply with the order.

The reason for both decisions has not been made clear. Earlier it was reported by the media that the US order came in the wake of imminent threat relayed by the gathered intelligence. Whether the UK got the same intelligence, it is not clear yet.

Whether it is a serious terrorist threat or another order in the series of Muslim Ban, it is not clear. Previously Trump’s administration barred people from various Muslim countries from entering the USA. Earlier tech workers came together to fight Trump, refusing to help him build a Muslim registry.
