C-130 of Pakistan Air Force wins at world’s largest airshow

The C-130 Hercules transport aircraft of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has won the prestigious trophy of best aircraft in the world’s largest military airshow, Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT).

According to the spokesperson of Pakistan Air Force, the RIAT Airshow 2016 was held at the Royal Air Force Base Fair Ford in the United Kingdom on 8th – 10th July. About 200 aircraft from fifty countries around the world participated in it but the c-130 aircraft of PAF became the centre of attraction.

The C-130 Hercules is a four-engine turboprop military transport aircraft. It is capable of using unprepared runways for takeoffs and landings. It was created as a troop, medevac, and cargo transport aircraft.

This aircraft can be used for airborne assault, search and rescue, scientific research support, weather reconnaissance, aerial refueling, maritime patrol, and aerial firefighting.

The scenes of Operation Zarb-e-Azb were painted on the aircraft. Visitors attending the airshow were also explained about the role played by the PAF in the success of Zarb-e-Azb. Moreover, PAF organized a facility to show many documentaries and promos to the visitors regarding Pakistan Air Force.

It is the second time the PAF has won the trophy. The PAF C-130 participated in the event in July 2006 had also won three major awards in the airshow.
