There are times when you get mad at your network connection, most likely because its package plans and call rates are too high, or you are not getting the signals properly wherever you go. You want to change your network but can’t because all your friends have your current mobile number. But now you can change the network using MNP.
Few months ago, when biometric verification system was not launched in Pakistan, mobile phone users were able to change their network just by calling the helpline of their operator. But after the biometric verification became necessary, it is very difficult to change the number.
What is MNP?
All the mobile networks in Pakistan offer Mobile Number Portability (MNP), meaning, you can continue to have the same mobile number after changing your network operator.
Below we have mentioned the procedures for changing from one mobile network to another, without changing the number.
You can port your number to Mobilink by visiting your nearest Mobilink Franchise/Main Office or selected retailer outlet, along with an active SIM (active for more than 60 days) and original CNIC with its copy to provide biometric verifications.
The number will be converted in 4 working days. Port-in is free of cost from the main office. However, Rs 75/- will be charged as MNP fee from franchises and retailers.
To convert your current network and shift to Telenor Pakistan, all you need to do is just visit your nearest Telenor franchise or call center with any active SIM. The SIM must be registered on your name.
Also, don’t forget your original CNIC card and its copy. Your network will be converted to Telenor in four working days. You will pay Rs. 100. If you want to use Telenor postpaid then, security deposit will be applied according to your package plan.
You can become a part of Ufone family by simply visiting Ufone Customer Care Center or a Franchise with your original CNIC, its photocopy and the original SIM of the network from which you want to port out.
You can also call on the given helpline number which has been set solely for the purpose of mobile number portability. The number is 033 1236 1236.
Follow the instructions and procedures that the IVR tells you. You can also talk to a customer representative officer to have a better understanding of the procedure.
- To switch to Zong, send MNP to 667, charges are Rs 1.50+tax.
- On receiving the response, forward the SMS to 76313. Charges are Rs.2.00+tax.
- Provide the information which is received via SMS to the representative at Zong Franchise or biometric retailer shop.
- Also, don’t forget to carry your CNIC and copy of CNIC. SIM should be registered on your name.
- 60 days should be completed on the current network.
- Successful MNP takes four working days, and it’s free of cost.
After your network is changed to Zong, your default package plan will be Economy Package, on which the call rate is Rs. 1.8/min, SMS price is Rs. 1.30/SMS and internet charges are Rs. 18/MB while a 300 KB Multimedia Message will be charged at Rs.3. Taxes apply.
You will also get Rs. 50.00 free balance with the validity of 7 days.
All new subscribers are also eligible for Zong 777 Offer. For this, after converting your network to Zong, please SMS “sub777” to 6464. You will get 1400 MB data for one week in Rs. 70+tax.
First of all the number you want to port must be active for at least 2 months on its original network and in case it had not completed those 2 months of operation then Warid won’t port your number onto its network.
You can take your SIM along with your original CNIC to the nearest Warid Franchise or Business Center and request them to port your number to Warid’s network. After a biometric verification through your thumb impression, you would be given an SIM of Warid, but you’ll have to use the SIM of your original company for at least 4-14 days until the signals die out in the original SIM.
After that, you can simply put the SIM that you got from Warid franchise and start using the services from Warid.
In case you want to port a number which is registered in the name of some of your relative then take an authority letter signed by that relative on a plane paper to the franchise. You must also have original CNIC of that relative.
