Recently, we reported that the COMSATS Internet Services (CIS) is in the process of starting the telemedicine services by installing the adequate IT equipment at the primary health units in Punjab. Today, the internet service provider has announced that it has partnered with the REDtone Telecommunications Pakistan for turning this idea into reality.
According to our sources, COMSATS Internet Services has signed an agreement with REDtone Telecommunications Pakistan for partnership in satellite broadband internet services. This agreement will enable CIS to enhance its broadband internet reach to distant Basic Health Units (BHU) to extend telemedicine facilities for the underprivileged community.
Through telemedicine, one doctor would be able to provide the treatment to the patients at two different health centers at the same time. The doctors would be able to guide the patient over the video call.
In most of the developing countries, telemedicine is one of the fastest growing industry. And now, the doctors in Pakistan are also taking a keen interest in providing the treatment to their patients over Internet/mobile phone.
The persons from the remote areas of Punjab would be able to get the same high-quality health services that are available to the patients in the urban areas only.
While expressing his views on the partnership, CEO CIS, Mr. Amir Malik said that this collaboration of COMSATS and REDtone would further explore facilitations in education and agriculture sectors as well.
The telemedicine services will provide the healthcare facilities to the remote and rural areas of Pakistan to address the health. Moreover, the REDtone is working to connect areas of Pakistan to address the educational and social aspirations of the unconnected world.
