Days of Wi-fi over in UAE, Li-Fi will provide 100 times more speed

Li-Fi Technology

Li-Fi (Light Fidelity) technology is officially launched in Dubai. The technology is an upgraded version of Wi-Fi. It offers lightning fast internet speed of up to 224 GB per second. The technology works on infrared technology.

The amazing technology will allow users to download up to 23 full HD movies in less than a second. It is the fastest and cheapest internet system.

People in Mexico and Russia are already enjoying Li-Fi. Now, DU, a telecom operator in the United Arab Emirates has officially announced that it is going to launch Li-Fi internet technology for its wireless broadband users in Dubai. The company says it has already completed the test of this new kind of technology. The test revealed that the Li-Fi is 100 times faster than Wi-Fi.

Saleem AlBlooshi, Executive Vice President of Network Development and Operations at du said that “We wanted to ensure our customers were aware of this technology, and the demonstration of LiFi technology complements our broadband portfolio for the business segment.”

He further stated that “We are currently working with major businesses to create tailor-made LiFi solutions and to test and validate the applications.”

While telecom operators are getting ready to adopt this fastest wireless technology, it is important to mention here that there is no commercially available smartphone with the support of Li-Fi feature. Currently, only Apple is testing the technology, but it still did not announce if iPhone 7 will come with the Li-Fi option.

We can say that the new technology will currently only benefit security agencies or large business companies as there is no smartphone available in the market with Li-Fi feature.

The technology is unique as well as fast, but it has some disadvantages over Wi-Fi. Li-Fi is a limited range internet technology, and its signals cannot travel through the walls. Another drawback is that it does not work out of the house in the daylight environment.

  1. Cant we use a LED source at Home that runs on low current that it does not give enough light like a bulb but runs as a LiFi router during the day time. It solves at least 1 bit of the problem.

We anyways use 3G/4G in putside premises

Says it all.!! So need to work on it first..

    1. It could be as you say but i am sure technologists would find a solution to this and of course the companies that have to sell their products can convince people based on many amazing stories….

    2. Li-Fi has some drawbacks, just like every other technology, but at least, it gives us 224GBps speed. We can say it is going to be a useful tool for internet users.
