Non-Steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs), normally the painkiller medicines, have side-effects. Researchers, after years of work, have reached a conclusion that these drugs have a toll on the human body.
A recent study published in the British Medical Journal asserts that they even risk your heart.
In this study, Danish researchers claim that Diclofenac exhibits the most chances of inducing cardiovascular diseases among the patients than any other NSAIDs’, such as paracetamol and ibuprofen.
Diclofenac shows 50% more chances of creating heart problems and cardiac arrests than the other two traditional NSAIDs (ibuprofen, and naproxen) which also possess such risks but not to an extent of Diclofenac.
Surprisingly, the global impact of the consumption of this class of medicines reckons a 1% more tissue death aka necrosis, in the annual records.
All over the world, this drug is available in a variety of combinations and options like capsules, tablets, eye drops, ear drops, gel, rectum, and vaginal suppositories.
In Pakistan, medicines with this salt come in different names including Beflam, Alfafenac, Annuva, Defnac, and several others. We advise you to consult your doctor first before changing any plan about diclofenac based drug.
Earlier, we also reported that Valsartan, a medicine to treat heart diseases is causing cancer. Although the Drug Regulatory authority of Pakistan (DRAP) made the announcement to ban the medicine, it was weeks after its recall in other countries.
Similarly, the Drug Testing Laboratory, Lahore, also declared Augmentin, Augmentin DX and Amoxil substandard after samples were found unfit for human consumption. Once again DRAP was as lazy as any other government department.
Chief justice of Pakistan also criticized the authority over nonfunctional, administrative issues. It is high time that the government should take notice and ban all the medicines which are substandard or dangerous in light of the latest studies.
