The much controversial CM Punjab’s laptop scheme has hit another wall as students are tired of the long and complicated procedure to receive a free laptop. Apparently, the high achievers require bonafide student certificate, along with a bunch of other documents to the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE).

Chief Minister’s Laptop Scheme is said to provide free laptops to the deserving students who have excelled in their studies, but from the looks of it, students are paying the price. According to BISE, the students are required to collect their bonafide student certificate from their respective institutions.
Various institutions are also asking for money from the students for issuing a bonafide student certificate. According to The News, institutions including GC University, Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) etc. are collecting money from students making the laptop not so free in the end.
According to Minister of Higher Education, Raza Ali Gillani, no institution is permitted to charge students for bonafide student certificate. he has directed the universities to pay back the money that they have collected.
Also, the students are required to submit their B-form again, which for many sounds ridiculous because the students appeared from the same examination board in matriculation where they should have their documents already. Maybe with digitization in various other government institutions, the provincials government should also look towards bringing
