To all those people who thought Facebook has gone crazy after introducing its messaging app, Messenger; Who’s Laughing Now?

The Facebook Messenger has now 1.3 billion active users globally, so it is safe to say that the mobile app is here to stay. The app crossed the 1 billion mark in July 2016.

With the 1.3 billion active users, Messenger is now toe-to-toe with WhatsApp, another mobile app that is owned by Facebook. The two messaging platforms enjoy a wide share of the global market that continues to grow.

In a Facebook post, the company shared, “We’ve continued working hard to make Messenger the best it can be, introducing new masks, filters and reactions for video chat, more suggestions from M and making our virtual personal assistant available in more places around the world, rolling our more Instant Games more broadly and bringing Messenger Lite to more countries.”

Now, Facebook needs to search more markets to expand its users base while it has to retain its current users. The social networking company is finding new ways to interact with its large base of users. Recently, it introduced a Watch tab for streaming the original content on Facebook.

Also, the company is taking strict action to combat the epidemic of fake news. It has started to block advertisements from such pages that contribute towards the spread of this disease.
