Facebook Messenger

Facebook Messenger now has 900 million active users worldwide who use this app every day for many kinds of tasks such as messaging, sharing videos, documents etc. Interestingly,  in January, the company announced that it has 800 million users, and just after two months, it has gained 100 million more users. It also stated that one billion messages are shared using Facebook Messenger every month.

It is a great milestone for the enterprise because it now has two products with a significant number of active users. WhatsApp has also crossed a billion user mark this year.

Facebook Messenger announced new features

Along with this good news, Facebook Messenger has also announced a new feature, which adds a URL to every Messenger profile. You can share the URL to any of your friends who don’t have your Messenger ID so that they can instantly start a conversation with you by just hitting the URL. The format of the URL is m.me/username.

Facebook has named this new feature as Messenger Codes. The function is very similar to Snapchat’s Snapcodes.

Messenger announced on its official Facebook page that “We are all unique human beings but sometimes we share the same name! It can make it hard to know you are contacting the right person when searching for them in Messenger. Now, it’s simple to search someone by their very own unique username. You can find and share your username from your Settings tab.”

The company also said that it is working very hard to make these codes as easy as possible so that the user can remember it. It stated that it did not want to create complicated and hard-to-understand codes. These codes can also be used on business cards, online, or in-store, and anywhere else you like.

Facebook is also unveiling Messenger Greetings system, which will allow large business organizations and companies to add a customizable welcome message, appearing on every message sent to their customers using Facebook Messenger app.
