Hold on to your seats or smartphones in this case as Facebook is introducing a new tab for streaming the original content on the popular social networking site.
Facebook introduced a new platform for programming called “Watch” on Wednesday which will be available on mobile, desktop and Facebook’s TV apps. This new feature correlates with the video push strategy of the company that was introduced last year.
In its blog post, the Facebook director of product Daniel Danker revealed, “On Facebook, videos are discovered through friends and bring communities together. As more and more people enjoy this experience, we’ve learned that people like the serendipity of discovering videos in News Feed, but they also want a dedicated place they can go to watch videos.”
people love to watch various videos on Facebook which most of us discover through our NewsFeed and friends. The company Last year, the company also added a video tab in its mobile app, enabling people to find more video content.
The Watch feature will be a Netflix like platform in a sense that it will give personalized suggestions and will provide new shows and video content to the users, both live and recorded, based on the what their friends and community are watching.
Its various categories will include; “Most Talked About,” “What’s Making People Laugh” and “What Friends Are Watching,” where a watchlist will help the users keep track of the programs.
