Social media is a place for everyone, and it is very common to find fake fan pages and accounts of famous celebrities. This time, an apparently fake fan page of Chief Justice of Pakistan has been spotted on Facebook which looks operative for a good number of months.
Honourable Chief Justice of Pakistan, Mr Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali can be seen in the cover photo of the page while taking the oath; however, the DP also shows him apparently sitting in his office.
ARY TV report suggests that a senior official of the Supreme Court of Pakistan has taken notice of the fake fan page and directed Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) which is the official investigator for cyber crimes in Pakistan and Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to not only block the page but also find the person who is running it.
With more than 13000 followers on the fan page, it links to a website “Movement For Rule of Law”, which is apparently run by a group of lawyers who seemingly remained active during lawyers’ movement for the reinstatement of Ex- Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary.
Interestingly there is another fan page in the name of Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary which not only active but also shows over 300K followers.
However, the official website of Supreme Court of Pakistan only displays a general contact page with only phone and fax number along with a regular email. There no mention of any official fan page or twitter account.
