General Hospital Lahore will not pay the Sales Tax(GST) on utility bills including gas and electricity bills from Sui Northern and Lesco respectively.
The government has issued the notification exempting Lahore’s General Hospital from these taxes, which will save Rs 6 million per month and Rs. 70 million per annum of the hospital budget.
According to the local media, the tax immunity was made possible due to the thorough and hard work of the hospital’s administrative staff under the leadership of MS Dr. Mehmood Salahuddin and Director Finance Riazat Ali Shah.
Principal LGH and Amirudin Medical College, Prof. Mohammad Tayyab has expressed his content on this accomplishment and has said that it would further provide more facilities to the patients and improve the standard of the hospital.
He was of the view that other hospital administrations should also follow the suit and try to save as much money as possible so that there is no burden on the national exchequer as per the recent policy of the federal and Punjab government.
General Hospital Lahore is one of the largest medical facility in the city and even caters to the needs of nearby districts. Famous for its neurosurgery department, the hospital has the state of art machinery and skilled doctors especially the surgeons.
It’s a good news that hospital is going to save a huge amount of money on monthly basis, we would like to see how the administration spends this saved money. There are many issues at the hospital like parking space, cleanliness, sanitary work, and encroachments which demand financial sources and administration’s attention.
