The federal government has decided to extend the facility of Sehat Insaf Card to 15 million families across Pakistan. The health ministry has signed a contract with the State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan which will provide free of cost health insurance services to underprivileged families worth Rs. 720,000.

The Sehat Insaf Card comes under PTI government’s initiative of Sehat Sahulat Program. The card was launched in KPK in PTI’s previous tenure. The card and health program met with extreme popularity and was even praised by international organizations.

The government pays the insurance premium of Sehat Insaf Card and poor citizens are benefitted with free medical health care in public and private hospitals. Moreover, if someone has a Sehat Insaf Card, the insurance company covers the travel expenses and lost wages.

Almost half of the KPK population carries a Sehat Insaf Card, and now the government has decided to extend it to Punjab, Balochistan, Sindh, AJK, Gilgit Baltistan through a very transparent and computerized mechanism.

Health Insaf Card will be providing free of cost medical and surgical treatments. Besides, citizens will be getting free medicines through the program. Poor patients will be able to get treatment from listed private and public hospitals. The services include:

  • Heart Surgeries
  • Insertion of Stunts
  • Burn Management
  • Cancer treatment
  • Intensive Care Management
  • Deliveries
  • Dialysis
  • C-Section
  • Accident Recoveries
  • Orthopedic Surgeries
  • General Physician Checkups
  • And Others

Although PTI government is facing enormous challenges, the programs like Sehat Insaf Card and Naya Pakistan Housing Program could help the government to secure votes for the next general elections.
