Mobile phone blocking on the mass level that was scheduled to happen on 20th of October 2018 has been postponed. There is no date announced by PTA as of yet for the next deadline.
The decision to postpone the act of blocking mobile phones in Pakistan which are running without PTA’s certification was taken in a meeting of Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication.
However, if you still want to check out that if your phone is legitimate or not, you can follow the steps mentioned here.
Earlier a group of dealers and mobile phone sellers had approached the government to hold the decision of activating DIRBS – a device verification system that has been designed to support legal import and activation of mobile phones in Pakistan.
The dealers expressed concerns over the deadline and asserted that such an action would result in a massive blow to the handset industry.
However, the activation has been put on hold for an indefinite period, and PTA has announced that the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication will fix the next date to activate the system.
