illegal cell towers in residential areas

The government has decided to take action against allegedly illegal cell towers installed near the residential areas. It directed the Federal Investigation Agency to interrogate the usage of such towers. According to an official statement issued by the Interior Ministry, the electromagnetic radiation, that comes from these towers is very harmful to health, Samaa reports.

The government also asked FIA to provide with the report on the issue within one week. Further action would be taken against the telecom companies after viewing the report.

According to a source, people of today are exposed to 100 million times more electromagnetic radiation than the people of old days, and the reason is radiation from the cell towers. The dangerous waves cause Headaches Memory loss, Cardiovascular stress, Birth Defects, Cancer and other alarming diseases.

These towers are more dangerous when fixed on the tops of buildings, houses, offices because they produce microwaves at a frequency of 1900 MHz. Studies have shown that the extreme rays from cellular towers negatively affects every living thing within one square kilometer.

Cell towers are working within the specified parameters – PTA

On the other hand, PTA recently conducted a survey with the help of Frequency Allocation Board (FAB) in the major cities of Pakistan to examine the omission of power level from the transmitters and receivers of Base Transceiver Stations (BTSs) which are installed by mobile companies. The results revealed that the towers installed in Pakistan were not harmful, and it is just a misconception among people that these towers are dangerous.

Now it is tough for us to tell who is telling the truth. Government, or the PTA?

Anyway, we can say that it is a great initiative from the Government of Pakistan, and these kinds of steps are vital for providing a healthy environment for our society.

  1. I have not seen the “official statement issued by the Interior Ministry, the electromagnetic radiation, that comes from these towers is very harmful for health”. Could it be shared? The old article to which the hyperlink is given also does not contain any such “statement”.
