The Pakistani government has been introducing good projects such as the e-rozgaar to target the 0.25 million university students graduating every year and turn them into people who can then provide jobs to others. Other programs such as the National Incubation centers and PITB’s plans to provide entrepreneurs with a chance to gain capital investments from the market are indeed commendable.
Along the government, societies and forums also need to step up and come up with plans and events to play their part in a technologically advancing Pakistan.
Gujranwala 2.0 is such a forum and is hosting NASA Space Apps Challenge 2017, which is ‘a hackathon that invites students, coders, scientists, designers, storytellers, makers, builders, technologists and everyone enthusiastic about space come together to address challenges we face on Earth and in space.’
NASA Space Apps Challenge is a global event, organized worldwide every year in more than 150 cities from around the world to bring together the coders, tech experts, designers, scientists and students willing to explore more and contribute to making the world a better place by sharing their ideas and developing solutions aimed at solving real-world problems.
The best thing about the event is that is being organized in Pakistan and will be hosted by Gujranwala 2.0, a leading tech forum in Gujranwala with the collaboration of GIFT university Gujranwala and Tech Pakistan. The purpose of the space apps challenge being organized in Gujranwala is to nurture the awareness for such hackathons, not just among the locals, but throughout the country as well. Known for its efforts for youth development and boosting the tech industry in Gujranwala, Gujranwala 2.0 has yet again embarked on a journey to organize this world-class event in the country.
Your ideas can get you involved with the global community of NASA Space Apps Challenge, the exposure will be enormous along with the prizes. The registrations are open for the participants for the event that will be held in GIFT University Gujranwala from April 28-30, 2017. All you have to do is to register and put your efforts, skills, and creativity to find solutions to the global problems faced by the world.
The Space Apps challenge was being hosted in Islamabad since the last two years with leading institutes like the Institute of Space Technology hosting the event but this year Gujranwala’s GIFT University got the nod to host the event. GIFT is a university that was established in 2002 and has since improved its education quality exponentially over the years.
In addition to bringing people from diverse backgrounds, with their different expertise and unique ideas, NASA Space Apps Challenge 2017 will award lucrative prizes to the winning participants. In addition to substantial cash prizes of Rs. 100,000, Rs. 75,000 and Rs. 50,000 respectively for first, second and third positions, participatory certificates will also be awarded to the participants. Getting a certificate from NASA isn’t something that can happen every day, is it?
