P&D chairman Dr. Habeeb-ur-Rehman Gillani has formally taken charge of Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) from Dr. Umar Saif.

Dr. Umar Saif posted the recent development on his Facebook page where he wrote: “it was an honor to serve the PITB”, and also shared a booklet of accomplishments of the institution in past years.

The new chairman, Habeeb-ur-Rehman Gillani, was appointed as chairman of the Planning and Development Department, Punjab by the caretaker government. He has now got the additional charge of the PITB. He is a grade 21 Civil Servant having more than 25 years of exposure in Pakistan’s Administrative Services (PAS) while serving in different government’s departments at key positions.

Before appointed as chairman P&D, he was serving as managing director of the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation.

Although the charge of Vice-Chancellor of Punjab Information Technology University (ITU) has also been taken away from Dr. Umar Saif, he will serve the office until the government appoints a new person for the job.

Umar was appointed as chairman PITB in 2011 while he served five consecutive governments. ITU was established under his leadership while he has almost 300 information technology-based projects to its credit which has reformed many departments and institutions in the country.

We wish Umar Saif the best for his future endeavors and hope that the new chairman of PITB takes the institution to new heights.
