Most of us have experienced the hectic and cumbersome process of getting our degrees verified. Luckily, (HEC) has announced to a put an end to it by introducing an online degree verification process.

The most recent development in this regard came from the Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC), Dr. Tariq Banuri, who professed that steps are being taken to start the online degree verification process.

Though the procedure has not been announced as of now, we do hope that the commission keeps it simple and easy for everyone to access.

Furthermore, regarding the education of special children, he said that a policy is underway to provide facilities to the special student and ensure that they are not deprived of higher education and receive a proper education without any discrimination.

Both the decisions seem welcoming as earlier the process of degree verification was nerve testing. You had to queue up for several hours just to get a token for further process.

But with online verification, we think everyone will be able to get their degrees verified without any hustle. This will specifically benefit the students for afar, who cannot come in person to get their documents verified.

Besides this, Chairman HEC emphasized that international universities willing to establish campuses in Pakistan will be welcomed, but must receive approval from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Interior Ministry.

Moreover, the HEC Vision 2025 pays significant attention to the tertiary education sector and is expected to cost around $1,180 million, $200 million of which is believed to be provided by the World Bank.

These are commendable steps from HEC in the right direction. As the rest of the world is moving forward with globalization and digitization, we also need to pace in order to keep up.
