Ever since the launch of the new Android Oreo or Android 8.0, many smartphone users are wondering when their devices will receive the much-awaited update.
While many still have to wait for some more time, HMD Global has confirmed that it will upgrade all its new smartphones, even Nokia 3, the company’s budget device.
This news was confirmed in a tweet by HMD Global’s chief product officer, Juho Sarvikas, who said:
All of our smartphones will upgrade to Oreo, Nokia 3 included. No comments yet on timing so that I don’t get into trouble ?.
— Juho Sarvikas (@sarvikas) September 2, 2017
Though this news is not surprising thanks to the presence of stock android, where the company has already promised real-time updates to its users.
Sarvikas didn’t reveal the ETA of the coming update but given that the device runs on pure Android it is likely to be sooner rather than later like many other devices who feature their own customized skin.
Ever since Google announced Android Oreo on 21st August, the update has only been available to for Pixel and Nexus devices in the Android beta program.
Nokia made a comeback into the smartphone world this year via HMD Global, the exclusive licensee of the Nokia brand in smartphones. The Chinese company launched Nokia 3,5 and 6 earlier this year at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 and later introduced its flagship device, Nokia 8 last month.
