Honor continues its streak of presenting affordable flagship phone and then offer a lite version of the same phone. However, they make sure that the phone is lite but not lightweight. Undoubtedly, Honor is among those brands that provide consumers with the latest specs but with the price that doesn’t cost an arm and leg.
Although some specs cuts are needed, Honor makes sure that it crafts a smartphone that is cost effective and yet trendy and up to the mark. This time Honor has presented Honor 10 Lite, a successor of Honor 9 Lite and a younger sibling of Honor 10.
We recently presented our first impressions with the device and now have concluded our all lab tests with Honor 10 lite. So let’s embark on a review journey with the phone, and for those who are new at MoreNews, it’s an in-depth review based on real-life tests.
The design is one of the strongest traits of Honor 10 Lite. The company has opted a plastic body and done a pretty job by giving out a stylish and trendy device.
The back of the phone is kept neat and clean, and it shines in your hand. Only a fingerprint sensor and dual camera lenses are found on the rear. I loved the shiny rings circling the sensor and both lenses.
The right side of the phone features power button and volume rockers while the left side totally clean and looks elegant and smooth.
So where is the SIM slot? Hybrid SIM slot and active noise cancellation mic sit at the upper side of the phone. Although the company has provided dual SIM functionality and SD card option in the tray, you have to use a single SIM with storage card or dual SIMs’ without any card unlike what we have seen in Vivo Y91.
The bottom of Honor 10 lite carries a speaker grill, main microphone, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a micro USB port.
The build quality of Honor 10 lite is impressive, and one can easily hold the phone for a more extended period without any tiredness, thanks to the curved edges. Honor has impressed us again with the design language of the phone which has the same quality as we witnessed in Honor 8X. The phone is eye catchy and a looker indeed.
Honor 10 supports a 6.21-inch IPS LCD panel. The display is quite sharp, and it offers excellent media consumption experience. It has got a 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution which is in 19.5:9 aspect ratio.
Honor 10 lite offers 415 ppi density which is quite imposing keeping in mind the price of the device. Its the first phone from Honor that has a dewdrop notch similar to Huawei Mate 20. With such a minimalistic notch, the company has achieved a marvelous screen to body ratio, and it looks almost bezel-less.
Who is not a fan of a notification light in a smartphone? Although many flagships like Pixel 3XL are found with no such notification light, Honor 10 lite has adorned it. Interestingly, the company has opted chin to feature notification light, which looks incredible and adds to the overall style statement.
The viewing angles of the display are optimum, and the brightness level is up to the mark. There are no issues regarding using the phone in direct sunlight.
Honor 10 lite comes with Android pie that means you will be getting all the latest features from Google in software. EMUI 9.0 is there as skin and provides users with the same feeling that we seen on other phones from the company. The latest skin is more CPU friendly and offers 25.8% faster results in gaming and multi-tasking.
Gesture navigation is there for you now which provides the user with customization ability and use the phone according to their preferences.
Although EMUI is still with bloatware, it is much refined now, and while I was using the phone, it never disturbed me after a little bit of customization.
Honor 10 lite is using Kirin 710 processor from HiSilicon and has got a 3GB of RAM and a 64GB internal storage.
Here are the benchmark scores:
In our light and moderate usage tests, where we tested the phone with light games, occasional WhatsApp, GSM calls and social media activity. The phone was swift and never showed any signs of lags.
In heavy usage tests, while we opened many apps and started playing resource heavy games like Deer Hunter, Honor 10 Lite showed average to good results. Although the phone is never meant for heavy multitasking, it can handle much-complicated tasks easily. For those users who never pushes the boundaries, the processing power of this device is more than enough.
Honor has done a superb job in elevating the quality of speakers in Honor 10 lite. It’s loud and will surely benefit those who love enjoying music and videos on the phone.
In the battery department, Honor 10 lite features a 3400mAh battery. We were skeptical about such power, but it provides sufficient juice for many users. It takes about 2 hours and 10 mins to charge the battery from 0 to 100%.
In our moderate usage tests, phone consumed 14% of the battery while it ate 19% of the battery when we started throwing some heavy tasks. The phone occasionally gets warm in heavy gaming sessions, however, not in a way to become uncomfortable to hold.
Honor 10 lite packs a 13MP + 2MP shooter at the rear which is supported by AI capabilities. The front of the phone houses a massive 24MP lens again with AI capabilities, and it’s surely a selfie king.
Speaking of camera interface, the company has kept it simple with Honor 10 lite which adds in better functionality and refined user interface of the phone. All the options like Night mode, Portrait mode are just within easy reach by simply swiping left or right.
The rear camera of the phones shows average to good results where it captured most of the details in the picture. The dynamic range of the phone is again quite satisfactory.
The AI capabilities of the camera section are up to the mark. It senses the scenes quite efficiently and gives some nice shots. However, if you are not a fan of beautification and filters, you will be little disappointed by the camera. It is totally a thing of personal preferences.
HDR mode of the phone works amazingly here and never showed over aggressiveness and sharping the photo too much, which we encounter in most of the Chinese phones.
In night photography, one should use AI mode as it perfectly clears the noise out of the clicks.
The portrait mode of the phone also works fine, thanks to the dual camera setup. If you love to have DSLR type portraits, this phone will not disappoint you.
The portraits are sharp, and the right amount of blur is provided by the camera unit of Honor 10 lite.
I loved the selfies taken by the Honor 10 lite. No doubt it is among the best mid-range smartphones having such type of front camera capabilities.
Honor has sensed the market well. After the recent prices hike due to the rupee depreciation, more people will shift towards mid-range smartphones. And for those people, the company has brought Honor 10 Lite. It’s a phone with flagship level design language and offers a bezel-less display with ample power under its hood.
If you prefer phones with sleek and modern design and enjoys consuming media on the phone as well. Honor 10 lite will surely impress you.
