Honor, the rising smartphone brand has stunned us again not with a new device this time but with its growth figures. Last year, the Chinese company achieved 170% growth on the global stage where many firms suffered due to a decline in smartphone shipments. Honor has witnessed 10 million unit shipments of Honor 8X series and Honor View 20 has already reached the mark of 1.5 million global sales. The former is also achieving wonderful success in the Pakistani market.
According to the latest figures by the International Data Corporation (IDC), the smartphone shipments worldwide are seeing a downward trend where the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) market, in particular, has shrunk significantly in 2018. Saudi Arabia which possesses the biggest market share in GCC with regards to mobile phone shipments (54%) was also affected but surprisingly Honor witnessed growth in that region while the brands that have historically been on top, lost market share in comparison.
The Saudi market’s performance was also in line with the overall broader trend of the wider GCC region. Consecutively, based on the GFK report, HONOR earned the 4th spot in Saudi Arabia and witnessed an increase of 230 percent market share in 2018.
Chris Sunbaigong, President, HONOR, MEA, said: “HONOR’s growth in the region at a time when leading brands are declining is a huge victory for the brand. We attribute this growth solely to our devices’ advanced features, reasonable pricing and a well-placed marketing and distribution strategy.”
The amazing device Honor 8X was launched in Pakistan on 3rd October 2018 at a star-studded event at Dolmen Mall, Clifton. Honor 8X successfully managed to attract the hearts of the Pakistani youth with its beautiful looks and outstanding features. You can read the detailed review of the device by clicking here.
“We have traditionally designated 10 percent of our sales revenue to R&D every year to underscore our continued efforts to advance our technologies over time,” added Chris.
According to the latest data from Sino Market Research, a leading market research institute in China, the Chinese smartphone giant has surpassed all industry players through 2018, in terms of both sales volume and revenue, with shipment volume at almost 55 million, and sales revenue at CNY79 billion (over US$12 billion).
