It has been confirmed that Honor is bringing Nougat update to Huawei Honor 8 smartphones in February 2017. The device will be updated with the Huawei’s latest EMUI 5.0 which will be overlaid on top of Android Nougat 7.0.
The popular 5.2-inch Android phone was launched in Pakistan in October with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and EMUI 4.1 and was recently rumored to get the same OS as the larger Mate 9. Honor 8 was already part of the Nougat Beta test and which already has been going on for beta testers of the Honor 8 since the end of last month.
The new EMUI 5.0 will bring new optimizations and a learning algorithm that can prioritize your apps based on the ones you use most frequently for optimal performance out of the phone’s Kirin 950. The device will also get a smart power management system with new power save modes.
It is not yet clear if the update will be offered at the start or end of February as the company has only announced the month of its release. The smartphone was a success worldwide and received mostly positive reviews from the users. Just to refresh your knowledge, the Honor 8 has a 5.2-inch 1080p screen, a Kirin 950 CPU, 4GB of RAM, 32 or 64GB of microSD-expandable storage, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner with a programmable shortcut key, as well as a dual-12MP camera setup with a 3,000 mAh battery.
