At the IFA, Huawei announced its latest chip, Kirin 980 and also unveiled that Huawei Mate 20 will be the first phone to come with the all-new chipset. After much leaks and rumors, The company also announced the launch date of the handset earlier.
At the launch event of the Kirin 980, Huawei confirmed that the chipset is equipped with two NPUs (AI dedicated units) which makes it 120% faster than its predecessor, Kirin 970 used in Mate 10.
The company has teased an image, looking at which you can instantly understand that the company is referring to the improved AI technology in the Huawei Mate 20.
It is rumored that the phone will come with the waterdrop notch and a triple camera setup on its back. Renders of the phone has also leaked which show off a tiny notch and 3 rear cameras placed in a square shape along with a flash.
With no official confirmation about other specs of the phone, we strongly speculate that Huawei Mate 20 will come with a 6.3-inch screen with FHD+ resolution and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, while the Mate 20 Pro may come with a Super AMOLED display. The phone is also said to have a massive battery of 4200mAH. With AI optimizations, such huge battery should be more than enough to last all day long even with heavy usage.
Huawei Mate 20 is rumored to have a traditional fingerprint sensor, i.e. on the back of the phone. While the Mate 20 Pro is said to host an in-display fingerprint scanner, like the one we saw on the recently launched Vivo V11 pro.
