Huawei has already won the hearts of its users by launching their most awaited flagship, P20 Pro which shows an unprecedented camera quality and innovative design language. However, the Chinese giant has a pattern of launching two flagship series a year. Meanwhile, after unleashing the P20 series, it is gearing up for the ultimate showdown of its upcoming beast, Huawei Mate 20.
The phone will come as the successor of Mate 10 which has already earned its deserved repute thanks to its monstrous specs with excellent performance. There is a lot to expect from Huawei Mate 20 keeping in mind that its predecessor was the world’s first phone to launch with an AI integrated chipset. Here’s all that we have gathered about the upcoming Mate 20 from the latest news, rumors, and leaks.
With a glass back, water resistance in Pro model, and slimmer bezels, the Mate 10 was the first phone to break the monotony in the design of the series. We expect its successor to continue with the same premium design language, a metal frame sandwiched in a glass body. The phone is also rumored to feature a water-resistant rating and it is more likely to adopt the notch from P20 series.
In this case, Huawei Mate 20 would ditch the top bezel in favor of a small notch just like on the P20 Pro. The phone will likely be similar in footprint as its predecessor, even if it features a larger display as rumors have suggested.
With most of the phones adopting the trendy 18:9 or even 19:9 aspect ratio, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the Huawei Mate 20 equipped with the same trendy display. As it has been reported, Huawei Mate 20 may come with a huge 6.9-inch display which will be manufactured by Samsung.
According to a more recent leak by a Korean website, ETNews, the upcoming flagship from the Chinese manufacturer will sport a flexible OLED display. The website has cited sources within the industry and has further stated that the display will be supplied by BOE Global, a Chinese company that has already been known to work on flexible OLED displays.
This is where the major difference kicks in. Normally all the succeeding flagships do get an upgrade in terms of specs and the Mate 20 is no different. The specs of Mate 20 were recently leaked by a Weibo user going by the name @lumisky.
According to him, the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro will come with the new Kirin 980 SoC and may come with 4GB/6GB RAM, and 64GB/128GB of storage but the Mate 20 Pro will have an additional 6GB RAM + 256GB version too which may be the Porsche Design edition.
Recently AnTuTu benchmark results of Mate 20 were leaked and the results were outrageous with a whopping 356,918 which is the highest score ever achieved, even higher than iPhone X which stands at a little more than 200,000 and Samsung Galaxy S9+ which scored 260,000.
Mate 10 comes with an AI-powered dual camera with Leica branding and we have already witnessed the marvels of P20 Pro triple camera at the phone’s launch event, which makes us excited about what the company is planning next.
Huawei Mate 20 is also expected to adopt the same camera module as its sibling. As the Mate series always release two variants, it may altogether be possible that the Pro version retains the triple camera set up while the simple one gets a dual camera setup just like the company did with its P series.
Huawei announced the Mate 10 and the Mate 10 Pro in October 2017 and the devices were made available shortly after that at the end of the same month and in the beginning of November.
Although the company has not made any official announcement, looking at the launch pattern, we can expect the Chinese company to introduce Huawei Mate 20 in October this year.
