The cyber war between Pakistan and India continues. Just days after hacking of the official government of Pakitan’s website, we have received the news that Indian hackers have defaced the library portal of the Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB).
Apparently, the portal has been hacked for days but the administration has yet to restore Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Library’s web portal. The site shows various messages posted by the hackers with the audio playing “vande mataram” in a loop.
The site contains information regarding the available books in the library and also provides access to various journals databases including HEC’s Pakistan Educational Research Network (PERN) project.
The portal was hacked by a group called Kerala Cyber Warriors which have left the whole site useless. Reportedly, the portal is displaying the message by the hackers for over one month but the university still hasn’t taken any affirmative action.
It is a very alarming situation as the university administration needs to take the cyber security issue very seriously to protect the data of its students.
With each passing time that the Islamia University Bahawalpur Library portal is under attack, the hackers can gain control of the more data which would enable them to change or modify the different components of the website.
