We previously reported that Apple is considering to launch its flagship device, iPhone 8 on 12th September and now the company has confirmed this news.
The US tech giant has sent out invites to the media where it is fittingly invoking the memory of Steve Jobs by launching the new device at the Steve Jobs theater in the new Apple Park campus.
It is going to be one jam packed event as apart from iPhone 8, people can also expect the unveiling of iPhone 7S, iPhone 7S Plus, Apple Watch 3 and maybe even a 4K Apple TV.
iPhone 8 will be the company’s 10th-anniversary smartphone which will offer some new features including a completely different screen from its predecessors. Reportedly, the company is following the lead of Samsung and will thus offer an all-screen display, much like the Infinity display of Galaxy S8.
To complement the new display, the company is ditching its traditional home button and replacing its functions with the new gestures feature. According to a new report, iPhone 8 users will be able to summon Siri, the AI assistant, or view the app screens with the help of specific gestures.
The new smartphone will also feature a thin software bar where a user can drag it to the middle of the screen to open the phone. The expected price of the new iPhone will be 54% higher than the previous model, iPhone 7 boasting a $999 price tag.
