Apple has yet to announced the official date for the big reveal of its 10th Anniversary smartphone but HomePod’s firmware has bestowed some new information regarding the new iPhone 8.
The company accidentally released the firmware over the weekend sending the internet into a frenzy by revealing some new features.
The smartphone will reportedly offer the following new features:
- Tap to Wake Function
- Removal of Home Button
- Facial Expression and Attention Detection
- Powerful Design of the status bar
Following the release of the firmware, various developers including Steve Troughton-Smith and Guilherme Rambo have taken their findings to Twitter.

One of the important discoveries included that the new iPhone 8 will feature a complete bezel-less display much like that of Samsung S8 and S8+.
Rambo in his tweet has revealed that there might be a new feature in the works that could detect the facial expressions of the users.

Tap to wake feature allows users to double tap the screen to wake up their smartphone. It’s not a new technology as this feature could be witnessed in Lumia/Windows phones and also those of LG.

The smartphone is expected to launch in September later this year and According to the Apple’s latest quarterly earnings report, the company expects revenues between $49bn and $52bn for the final quarter of 2017 around the time iPhone 8 will be released.
