Earlier this week, Apple announced its much-anticipated iPhone 8 and 8 Plus along with its 10th-anniversary smartphone iPhone X, sending the internet into a frenzy.
Now, since the atmosphere has cooled down a bit, a new report suggests that the iPhone 8 has lower battery capacity than its predecessor, iPhone 7.

According to the TENAA, the Chinese version of FCC, the iPhone 8 will come with a 1821 mAh battery and the iPhone 8 plus will pack a 2675 mAh battery. The iPhone 7 boasted a 1960 mAh battery last year whereas the iPhone 7 had a 2900 mAh battery.

The downgrade in the battery capacity might not be a big issue for Apple who takes care of battery optimization through its own software. According to the company, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will last the same as iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus respectively.

So, while the manufacturers of the various Android phones are rushing to offer 3000 mAh or above battery, Apple is content with its smaller battery capacity that can last for the same time.
The US-based tech giant has tried to steer the future of smartphones this year by presenting iPhone X, where users will have to relearn how to use an iPhone altogether.
