Lahore going to enjoy huge 8-lane Elevated Expressway

The recently declared Punjab Budget 2017-18 has allocated Rs 17.5 Billion for the construction of the 6-KM long elevated expressway from Shahdara to Rachna Town (before Kala Shah Kaku) on GT road in Lahore.

On May 6, 2017, Under the supervision of Chief Minister Punjab, Shahbaz Shareef, a meeting took place in which the project of the elevated expressway was discussed and approved.

The elevated expressway from Shahdara to Rachna Town will have 8 lanes, where 6 lanes will be reserved for regular traffic while other 2 for the running of Metro Bus Services. Out of 6-KM, 4.5-KM part of the expressway would be higher, while 1.5-KM would be constructed on the ground.

During the meeting, Shahbaz Sharif directed the authorities to develop a bridge on River Ravi to make the transportation easier via the elevated expressway using latest technologies. The Metro Bus Services would also be stretched from Shahdara to Rachna town.

The elevated expressway is expected to bring enhanced economic and industrial upgradations as the infrastructure will be wholly latest to cope with the road hindrances.

The Orange Metro Train is another under-construction project to provide better transportation facility while previously, SpeedO buses for feeder routes were launched and now running in the process. Meanwhile, in the future, Punjab Government also plans to introduce other projects like Blue and purple train.
