Lahore Knowledge Park project

Soon, the students will enjoy the world-class facilities of higher education and learning. The government of Punjab is working on the project of the Lahore Knowledge Park (LKP), which will assist in promoting the knowledge economy in the country.

The LKP Project would also offer an ideal educational and disabled-friendly environment. The project would be completely solar-powered, and the government would establish the best possible security for the students. Moreover, it would be a high-tech knowledge park having all the facilities of life for the students, teachers and researchers.

According to the Lahore Development Authority (LDA), the LKP is a special development zone. On the other hand, the Environment Protection Department has declared it as an environment-friendly project.

The Punjab Higher Education Minister Raza Ali Gillani has said that the LKP would offer the state-of-the-art facilities of research and innovation in the different fields. Two top level universities of Italy have agreed in principle to establish their international campuses in the LKP.

Furthermore, Karolinska Cancer Institute of Sweden has also been planned with modern research services. It will be a 200-bed hospital. LKP will also have the service of internationally connected entrepreneurship center. The Punjab government will provide Rs. 21 billion from 2015-18 for the development works.

Lahore Knowledge Park will serve as a growth engine for the city and promote education in five key areas, i.e., biotechnology, life sciences, design and creative industry, computer sciences, information technology, science, and engineering. Once operational, it will create 40,000 jobs and produce 11,200 PhDs by 2040.
