Ishaq Dar calls meeting to promote Islamic Banking

Finance Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar has called a meeting of the Committee for Implementation of Recommendations on the Steering Committee for Promotion of Islamic Banking on 3rd December 2016. This decision was made in the meeting between the Ishaq Dar, Ashraf Mahood Wathra, State Bank Governor and Saeed Ahmad Deputy Governor State Bank.

The Finance Minister was informed about different measures taken for expanding this banking sector in Pakistan. Ishaq Dar advocated that the priority for this sector should be the promotion of existing Islamic Banking products and also the addition of new products in the market.

Islamic Banking has witnessed a noticeable growth in Pakistan and the rapid increase in its products will provide more banking options for the people. The government has been working on its promoting and Ishaq Dar in his meeting today, emphasised on the coordination between all stakeholders in order to achieve reforms in this sector.
