The mobile broadband users in Pakistan have been increased to 38,269,702 by January 2017. Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) revealed on Monday that from December 2016 to January 2017 the country has witnessed an increase of around 0.695 million new users during the period.
By January 2017, the mobile phone users in Pakistan have grown to 137,095,352 from 136,489,014 in December 2016, an increase of around 0.606 million new users. The large portion of Pakistanis use feature phones, but still, the percentage of the smartphones is rising by approximately 2% every month.
In the fiscal year 2015-16, the mobile phone users spent a total of PKR 98 billion for using 3G and 4G (LTE) Internet services. The number that will likely increase in this fiscal year.
According to the latest statistics issued by the PTA, the total subscribers of Jazz after its merger with Warid have been increased to 51,534,764, making it the company with the most mobile phone users in Pakistan.
Zong has also seen an increase in its subscribers as in January 2017 it has 27,496,157 users as compared to 26,929,982 in December 2016. Ufone’s subscribers have decreased from 18,581,452 in December to 18,478,378 in January 2017.
