In continuation of its efforts to establish firm security in the country and ensure safety to every citizen, the government has decided to suspend mobile phone service on the Independence Day.
According to the sources of MORE Magazine, the Interior Ministry has made a decision of suspending the mobile phone services in 40 cities. The services will not be available from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM on 14th of August due to security concerns.
The cities, in which the communication services will not be available include Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Quetta, Multan, Bahawalpur, Sukkur, Faisalabad, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Sialkot, and more.
It is important to mention here that not only the mobile phone services will remain suspended, but the Internet services i.e., PTCL Evo, PTCL Broadband, Wi-Tribe Pakistan, Wateen, and others will also be temporarily unavailable on Independence Day.
It is not for the first time the government is suspending the communication services. We have seen in the past that the mobile services temporary remain inactive on important occasions due to security concerns. However, after the Quetta bomb blast, the government is taking special steps to maintain the security in the country. Combing operation by security forces is in the process in many parts of the country.
