The Mobile learning program is an initiative focused on women empowerment and education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This program has successfully enabled more than 4000 adult females to read the newspaper, write in Urdu, perform everyday calculations and gain necessary life skills.
M-Literacy has been a result of the teaming up of Jazz and GuarantCo with Institute of Social and Policy Sciences (I-SAPS), whose primary focus is to relay education to the women of Pakistan through growing mobile subscriptions in Pakistan. In an event organised by the collaboration between these firms, the success stories of women benefited from this program are introduced and highlighted.
The initiative has been achieved with the help of four specially designed textbooks, and mobile phones are given away freely in eight districts of KP including Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Buner, Malakand, Haripur, Mansehra and Kohat. The province of KP was selected for mobile learning program because it has the third lowest literacy rate in Pakistan. The program has around 150 female teachers and more than 10,000 students are enjoying the benefits of mobile learning. Mobilink with the efforts of I-SAPS is educating women via mobile phone.
