, Punjab government’s new health care initiative will officially use Yamaha motorbikes to reach the needy in order to provide timely service. According to Dr. Rizwan Naseer, DG Rescue has government will use Yamaha 125 as the primary medium for providing the emergency services on the motorbike. The final decision for the purchase of the said motorbikes is yet to be announced by the commission assembled by Chief Minister Punjab.
The motorbike Ambulance service is to be launched in Lahore and nine other divisions of Punjab and the recruitment process for hiring around 800 medical technicians has already been initiated. The motorbikes are said to have medical kit involving life-saving drugs and medical equipment to restore the breathing of a patient. Previously it was reported that Chief Minister Shahbaz Shareef has granted permission for 100 motorbikes that will provide emergency services and now it has been reported by C42 that the Punjab government is looking to purchase around 800 Yamaha 125 motorbikes, among which 300 would be for Lahore.
In Lahore, the motorbike rescue services are said to work in three shifts. The applicants with paramedical staff education are eligible for the position of medical technicians. The final candidates will be trained for four months before the can work in the field. This service can be availed by anyone who will call the emergency service and if needed the Rescue automobile ambulance can also be called.
The said project if properly executed can be a huge step towards providing emergency services but it is yet to be seen if the motorbike ambulance will be another Dolphin Force. The service is expected to start in June 2017.
