Mozilla Firefox will not release its security updates and other critical updates for old Android smartphones anymore, if you love this app, you have to upgrade your old Android smartphone to a modern version of Android.
According to the details, Mozilla Corporation has announced that the newer version of its popular web browser Firefox will only be available on newer Android devices. It has officially terminated the support for Android v2.3 (Gingerbread) to Android v3.0 (Honeycomb).
The users who love classic Android devices with the versions mentioned above installed can still enjoy the web browsing experience on Firefox, but they will not be able to upgrade this app to its modern version.
Android versions that will remain unaffected are Ice Cream Sandwich, JellyBean, KitKat, Lollipop, and Marshmallow.
“Sometimes, we need to remove support for platforms that are going away,” says an official blog post from the company.
Most of the people in developing nations still use older versions of Android, because they do not have enough money to buy an advanced smartphone, they use older ones to get basic internet services. There is a chance that Firefox will see a massive decline in its web traffic and revenue after it will leave the old smartphones.
Meanwhile, the company has just released its latest version, Mozilla Firefox 45, which enhances the management of tabs.
Last week, WhatsApp announced that it is ceasing the support for feature phones by 2017.
