Managing Director NTC recovers Rs 45.877 million for National Exchequer

PAC Sub-Committee-III, under the chairmanship of Sardar Ashiq Hussain Gopang, reviewed Audit Report 2009-10 of telecommunication sector on July 20, 2017.

While reviewing the audit paras of National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) relating to irregularities and loss of national exchequer observed in the case of the project of construction of NTC Regional Office Building, Lahore, PAC Sub-Committee was informed that the present Managing Director of NTC Brig (R) Viqar Rashid Khan through his personal efforts forwarded the case to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for investigation.

It was further informed that using its good offices, the case was continuously pursued by the Managing Director, NTC and was successfully finalized in favor of National Telecommunication Corporation. Director, NAB informed the PAC Sub-Committee-III that the case has been finalized with a recovery of Rs.45.877 million in favor of the National Telecommunication Corporation

The Convener of the PAC Sub-Committee-III, highly appreciated and acknowledged the efforts of Brig (R) Viqar Rashid Khan which resulted in the recovery of Rs.45.877 million from the contractor. The Sub-Committee of PAC commented that this is specifically admirable as no such example of efforts have been seen in the past
