How to Open Mobile Account on JazzCash, Easypaisa, Upaisa, Paymax

Opening a mobile account in Pakistan is a lot easier than opening a bank account with a commercial bank that is a more cumbersome and outdated process requiring too much documentation and, of course, patience.

Despite an easy process, mobile accounts are not lesser in features when it comes to everyday financial needs. If you run a mobile number in your name, opening an account is a few taps away. You can shift money to someone’s mobile account, purchase a mobile top-up, pay utility bills, shop online, whatnot. In short, you get a fully functional bank account that is tagged with your mobile number; in fact, your mobile number is your bank account number.

Although it’s easier than playing a mobile game, here we have listed the mobile account opening process for the top 4 mobile wallets – JazzCash, EasyPaisa, Paymax, and Upaisa.

JazzCash mobile account

While EasyPaisa is the oldest among the players, JazzCash has claimed more versatility in mobile banking. It also gives a tremendous opportunity to freelancers in Pakistan to create and manage a Payoneer account for international payments transfer.

The good thing is, you can run JazzCash on networks other than Jazz also. There is no need for a smartphone as well; your feature phone can do the job.

1- How to open?

Biometric-verified Jazz SIM owners can self-register a mobile account by dialing *786# and entering the CNIC issuance date as per the card.

If you use a mobile network other than Jazz, download JazzCash mobile app and self-register yourself. If you don’t own a smartphone, visit the nearest JazzCash Agent or a Jazz Franchise to open a mobile account.

After registration is successful, set up your MPIN; it’s your 4 digits secret code that allows operating banking transactions. Don’t lose it, keep it safe, and don’t share it with anyone.

How to create MPIN?

Jazz/Warid customers can dial *786# or use the mobile app for creating MPIN. For non-Jazz users, mobile is the only way.

If you ever forget your MPIN, call 4444 from your Jazz/Warid number to reset it; users of other networks can dial 021-111-111-444 for the same.

That’s it; your mobile account is ready. Add some funds to use it.

Deposit funds

For depositing money into your JazzCash mobile account, go to your nearest JazzCash agent and deposit the amount without any processing fee. If you need to find out which agent is available around you, write ‘B’ in an SMS and send it to 2179 (without charges), OR dial *786*0*1# OR use agent locator to find one.

If you already have a bank account with any commercial bank, you can use their online banking portal, mobile app, or ATM card to transfer funds into your JazzCash account. Select Mobilink Microfinance Bank from the list as the receiver bank and use your mobile number as your account number.

Soon as you transfer the funds, the amount will reflect in your JazzCash account right away.

Feature phone Jazz/Warid users can dial *786# and use the menu for making transactions. Smartphone users can use a beautifully designed mobile app for doing the same.

EasyPaisa

Telenor’s EasyPaisa is the oldest financial service in town which enjoys the largest footprint. The process of opening the EasyPaisa mobile account is similar to what we mentioned JazzCash above.

The easiest way is to download EasyPaisa mobile app from Google Play, Apple Store, or AppGallery, follow the wizard, and register your account. Later, create your security PIN and keep it safe. The process works for Telenor and non-Telenor mobile SIMs. You will need your CNIC number and issue data during the process of EasyPaisa account registration.

In case you have a feature phone or don’t want to install a mobile app on your smartphone, dial *786# from your Telenor mobile number and follow the instruction to create an account. Like JazzCash, create your security 5-digit security PIN and move on to adding funds to your account. You can either use a commercial bank account to transfer money into your EasyPaisa mobile account or go to your nearest EasyPaisa Cash Point Locator.

Non-Telenor mobile users can not do it without the mobile app procedure.

UPaisa

Upaisa has the smallest footprint in financial services; still, you can use their mobile wallet facility to do the transactions. If you are a smartphone user, download the Upaisa app from Play Store or Apple Store. Enter the mobile number. For Ufone mobile SIM owners, enter your CNIC’s issuance date, wait for the OTP to fetch, and that’s it.

The next step is to create your MPIN, and you are ready to use your UPaisa mobile account.

You need to enter your CNIC instead of the issuance date for other mobile networks and follow a similar procedure on your smartphone app.

Otherwise, dial *786# from your phone’s dialer and follow the steps. Option number one in the subsequent menu will appear for registration of the UPaisa account.

For funds transfer, follow similar steps that are required for the rest of the financial services.
