The excitement of Oppo F9 is not over yet and the company is all set to launch one more mid-range phone, Oppo A7, in the market. The smartphone will compete against the newly introduced offerings Huawei Y9 2019 and Honor 8X.
The device is still not launched in the global market, however, the company has decided to mark its inception in Pakistan shortly. The most anticipated features of this smartphone will be the gigantic battery size and waterdrop notch, lately which has become the trend in the industry.
Design and Display
Though specs wise the device is identical to Oppo F9, it’s the design of the phone which sets it apart from the crowd. Oppo A7 will be offered in two colors option i.e. glaring gold and glazed blue with amiable lining patterns.
Our testing unit comes in Glaze Blue variant which surely is a treat to watch. Obviously, to cut down the price of the device, the company opted for a plastic body, however, Oppo did a commendable job in emulating the glass like shine and feel. The design of the smartphone is curved from the edges to provide easy grip to users.
Oppo A7 features a 6.2 inch IPS LCD panel with a small notch which helps it register 88.4% screen to body ratio. The device has a small chin and is quite bezel-less keeping in mind its a mid-range smartphone.
On the left side of the device, there is volume rocker and the SIM tray while the power key is on the right side which is easy to reach and responsive.
Moreover, the smartphone is different from its antecedent as it provides fingerprint sensor at its back bordered by a shiny golden ring. The phone also has a dual camera setup.
To cater to the likes of those who love mobile photography, Oppo has placed dual camera setup in A7. The main lens is 13MP while the secondary lens is of 2MP with f.2.2 and f/2.4 aperture respectively.
For selfies, there is a 16MP lens which is a significant improvement over its descendant. The camera app is loaded with multiple modes which offer usability in different scenarios. For complete camera testing, do stay tuned for a complete review.
Performance and Battery
Oppo A7 is powered by Snapdragon 450, the chipset famous for delivering unhindered performance in budget and mid-range phones, especially in the moderate usage.
One of the most strong points of the device is its battery size, at 4230mAh it will surely surpass the competitors at providing juice for internet surfing, consuming media and playing games.
A7 comes with 4GB RAM along with an internal storage of 64GB. One can also expand the storage further by mounting microSD card.
The smartphone adorns Android 8.1 and company’s own ColorOS 5.2 overlaying the main software. Although Oppo has improved a lot in its UI interface, it still needs some alterations so that it provides better usability.
There is a smart assistant feature which will help you organize the data and apps on the phone efficiently. Similar to Huawei phones, Oppo also has a dedicated music app that synchronizes the audio of all nearby Oppo phones providing a stereo and loud party like music.
Users are given the permission to customize the battery optimization while it delivers promising results. Furthermore, the company has applied some security features too.
The first impressions of Oppo A7 are quite strong and it has impressed us. From the color options to curved design and notch, the company has really focused on minute details. It is definitely a huge upgrade over its descendant, however, how it performs in our in-depth review is still remains to be seen.
