Oppo R17, the successor to the R15, keeps stealing the spotlight time and again with its interesting features. Oppo has been making rounds with its redefined waterdrop notch which is also included in the Oppo F9.
A hands-on video of the phone has surfaced on the internet which gives out interesting details and confirms previous rumors. In the video, the phone is seen to be unlocked with an in-display fingerprint scanner.
It seems that the sensor is located in the lower area of the screen. What’s more interesting is that the sensor even works with screen off. The person placed his finger on the lower part of the screen, it lit up and recognized the fingerprint. All this happened without turning the screen on.
Other than that, the video clearly indicates that Oppo R17 sports minimal bezels and a reduced chin, unlike the hefty bottom bezel of the likes of Honor 10. The phone also carries a redefined design of notch, one which the company calls a “waterdrop notch”.
Oppo R17 will be the first smartphone to boast the all-new Snapdragon 670 from Qualcomm. Accompanying the new chipset will be a huge 8 GB RAM along with 128 GB internal storage.
The company focused a lot on the camera this time. Oppo R17 will have a dual rear camera setup consisting of 16MP+20MP with f/1.7 aperture and a 25 MP front camera with a f/2.0 aperture.
Since in-display fingerprint scanner is only supported by OLED displays, the device will have a 6.4-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2220 pixels.
