Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has laid the foundation of an Aviation City at Aeronautical Complex Kamra that would work towards the development of this industry.
Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman while addressing a ceremony today at Pakistan Aeronautical Complex, Kamra revealed that this project aims to create the best minds in the aviation industry who can take charge of the future.
Aviation City will be established with the sponsorship of Government of Pakistan and will help strengthen not only PAF but will also focus on the betterment of the civil aviation in Pakistan. It will create a strong anchor for aviation designing, research and development and quality education.
Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman also disclosed that the Aviation Cty will house a campus of Air University, which for so many years has worked towards generating brilliant engineers.
Aviation would be the prime focus of this campus where students will be provided quality education in this regard. It plans to create industry and academia linkages and has already established comprehensive certification agency that has been working for the last 18 months.
PAF seeks to harness the demands of foreign aviation industry via imports, joint research, and production ventures. Pakistan is already advancing towards latest technology in this sector. It is currently working on fifth generation fighter aircraft, development of advanced weapons etc.
The Aviation City will help the civil aviation in design, certification and manufacturing capabilities. It will also include various international scholars who besides intellectual exchange can help to create a positive image of the country.
