The digital ways of doing business are finally catching up with the government as Pakistan Railways e-ticketing system has created a record of 10 million ticket sales in one year.
The government introduced e-ticketing system for the customers of Pakistan Railways in October last year where they could use a smartphone or a computer to get their desired seats at their convenience.
With the Pakistan Railways e-ticketing system, the customers can use their debit or credit cards to make the purchase or they can use the JazzCash Mobile Accounts or JazzCash agents to pay for their booked e-ticket.
Also for the first time in the 125 years of the Pakistan Railways, the government provided the facility of duplicate tickets and till now 1 million such tickets have been issued.
Undoubtedly, Pakistan Railways is going through a severe crisis where the heft projects undertaken by the government have not changed the way people regard the transport system.
Last year, Pakistan Railways also adopted the Land Record Management Information System (LRMIS) to digitize the entire record of the lands owned by the Railways department. Though the government has undertaken many projects, we still have to see a positive change in the railways.
Online ticketing system without any doubt, provides the user with ease but again he/she will need better transport facilities alongside as well.
