Dealer Vehicle Registration System in Pakistan

The provincial Department of Excise and Taxation (E&T) has officially launched the state-of-the-art Dealer Vehicle Registration System (DVRS) in Lahore. This system of vehicle registration is initially available at Ravi Motors and City Car Center, Lahore.

While inspecting the DVRS system at the Ravi Motors and City Car Centre, the provincial minister for E&T, Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman talked to the media and said that the DVRS had been introduced in Faisalabad and Multan as well.

On this occasion, the Secretary Excise Ahmad Bilal and Director General E&T were also present.

The provincial minister said that the Dealer Vehicle Registration System (DVRS) would assist in reducing the car theft and other vehicle-related crimes. He stated that this system is according to international standards and Pakistan is the first country in Asia where this system has been introduced.

He further stated that  Chief Minister of Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif will soon officially start this system. Through this new kind of scheme, the citizens will be facilitated for registration of motorcycle or vehicle at the point of sale.

One of the major advantages of this system is the elimination of the fake number plates.

It was a headache for the people to get their vehicles registered. As part of their practice, E&T department would get the fee upfront from the vehicle buyer who would be asked to expect the registration plates through courier. Customers literally had to wait for months before the plates could finally reach their home address. In a few cases, they wouldn’t get the plates even after months.

With the launch of advanced DVRS system, people will be able to register their vehicles quickly at the point of sale.
