Pakistan to showcase first home-made Multi Role Combat vehicle in IDEAS 2016

The government has officially inaugurated the International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) 2016 at the Expo Centre in Karachi. Pakistan will also showcase its first home-made Multi-Role Combat Vehicle called “HAMZA.”

The vehicle has the capability of carrying 15 tons of load, a large windscreen offering the excellent view and a sight of the happening around, display through night camera, most significant crew carrying capacity of 14 personnel.

In the event, the FN-SCAR H & Beretta ARX-200 will be showcased as the “Battle Rifle” of Pakistan Army.

It is a four-day event, and more than 90 delegations from 43 countries of the world are attending it. A total of 418 companies from 34 countries including 157 Pakistani firms is showcasing their products in this mega defence event. Because of the successful marketing by the Defence Export Promotion Organization (DEPO), nine new countries are also participating in the IDEAS 2016.

The prime minister Nawaz Sharif has said that the government is paying particular attention towards the social sector and is investing in the development of the defence industry. He said the country today presents vast opportunities for foreign investment, joint agreements and trade. The government is determined to strengthen the economy; further, he added.

On the other hand, the security plan for the IDEAS 2016 has been created. According to the sources, two thousand police officials including two SSPs, and four DSPs will provide the protection for the expo. The roads near the Civic Centre have been closed for the traffic while the citizens are given the alternative routes. According to the authority, the university road has also been closed for the traffic.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah and IG Sindh were also present on this occasion.
