Although the government of Pakistan is making lots of efforts to curb mobile phones smuggling in the country, it appears, it isn’t going to stop anytime soon unless some serious measures are taken.

Authorities after following a tip arrested a passenger Nadeem who landed via Oman Airlines at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore. The accused carried 1305 smartphones of various brands which according to customs worth Rs. 19 million, city42 reported.

According to reports, the smartphones were concealed in the packing of Ab-e-Zamzam (holy water).

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has numerous times announced to block unregistered mobiles in Pakistan. The system which it calls DIRBS is meant to stop the mobile phones smuggling in the country. Despite multiple deadlines during past 3 months from the authority, the system has not been implemented yet in its full form.
